This is how we built: a family house in Bratislava

The land is located in a newly emerging residential area on the outskirts of Bratislava. Its northeast orientation (access road from the north, garden from the south) predetermined the basic orientation of both the main building volume and the internal layout.

The operation of the house takes place linearly along the east-west axis in a logical arrangement of spaces/functions so that it corresponds to the way of life of our clients. From parking through the entrance to the house (with a guest room/study section) through the main living area of the house (kitchen/dining room/living room) to the night area (3 bedrooms with adequate accessories).

The mass of the house consists of a compact one-storey base with a flat roof complemented by a stepped volume in the shape of a gable roof. The compact ground floor base is not a soulless prism, the “selection” of partial volumes creates functional “semi-spaces” (on the border of the interior and exterior) – a generous overlap of the entrance to the house from the carport, a separate garden storage unit and a generous covered porch oriented along the entire length of the house towards the garden (from each living space there is an exit to the garden through the porch). The sloping volume of the gable roof (a requirement of the local regulation) allows for the creation of a loft floor in the individual bedrooms and a generous height in the main living space, which, in addition to the impressive effect, illuminates the depth of the tract in a basilica way and naturally ventilates the space transversely. The house is realized as a prefabricated building made of wood. Of course, there is an ultra-low-energy standard.
