This is how we built – HOUSE BARN

Multi-purpose wooden building in Vrútky

The wooden building is located in the garden of the original building of an old house, which belonged to the descendants of the founders of Vrútky.

The low-energy building made of CLT panels is installed on a concrete, technical floor, has a red spruce façade and a titanium-zinc roof with solar collectors that provide autonomous heating.

The recessionist design of the exterior is based on the archetype of the barn, with an effort to make the expression of the materials used absolutely true.

Simple architecture incorporated into the industrial surroundings is complemented by an expressively clean interior with an exposed structure. The layout is open, on the ground floor it allows direct contact with the garden from the lower – visiting living room.

The private living room, connected to the kitchen and bedroom, is intentionally located on the first floor, from which there are more attractive views of the Malá Fatra mountains.

The entire interior of the house will set a frame for views of the landscape. It allows immediate relaxation for an urban person who still stays close to the city, but with the feeling of touching the mountains.

The joy in creating this house resulted from the unbridled openness of its owner to all the architect’s suggestions and especially thanks to the creative provocations of the owner himself.

Construction: construction made of solid CLT panels and bioboards that are admitted in the interior. The ground floor is made of exposed concrete.
